"Shakotan Spirits is a craft gin distillery born on the Shakotan Peninsula, located in the western part of Hokkaido, in March 2018.

The Shakotan Peninsula juts out into the Sea of Japan, enduring harsh winters with heavy snowfall and intense winds blowing in from the sea. Craft gin made using botanicals derived from plants that have survived in this challenging natural environment is sometimes referred to as "firewater"

Exceptionally resilient botanicals, thriving in this environment, are meticulously extracted using the element of "fire" to create a pure and profound flavor, removing any unnecessary impurities.

Moreover, the Shakotan Peninsula, created approximately 200 years ago by volcanic activity, has a strong connection to the element of "fire," with events like the annual "Tengu Fire Crossing Festival" held in July.

The variety of botanicals used in gin production imparts significant uniqueness to the spirit. Sotan Spirits cultivates around 100 different plant species, including native plants, in their dedicated botanical garden.

Connecting the forests, rivers, seas, and the natural and historical aspects of Shakotan, Sotan Gin is a sensory journey stimulating all five senses - sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch. It adds a touch of vibrancy to people's lifestyles."
